Stolen Vehicle Prompts Double Arrest

August 22, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Jackson, Mn.)– A report of stolen property, including a vehicle, prompted the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office to conduct stops on two vehicles following each other on Thursday evening around noon. The 2005 Chevy pickup was being followed by a white fan with a stolen tool box ratchet strapped to the roof. Deputies were in the area, and stopped the vehicles on County Road 14 about two miles Northwest of Jackson.

Four other deputies responded and the stolen Chevy and other items were recovered.

A 20 year old homeless male was driving the stolen pickup. He is being held in the Cottonwood County Jail for receiving stolen property and 5th degree controlled substance possession. The driver of the van, a 34 year old man from Windom, was also arrested for receiving stolen property and is now also in the Cottonwood County Jail.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Windom Police Department and Lakefield Police Department, as well as Warmka Towing and Windom Towing all assisted at the scene.
