Stolen Rental Car From Mississippi Turns Up in Spencer

November 22, 2014

The extended use of a rental car has an O’Brien man behind bars. Kenneth Mullen of Paullina was taken into custody on Friday by Clay County authorities after deputies ran a check of the vehicle’s license plate and it came up as a stolen car.

According to the police report, Mullen rented the car from a Hertz Car Rental in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He never returned the vehicle and failed to pay for the additional time of the rental, prompting Mississippi authorities to list the car as stolen.

Mullen was then spotted driving the vehicle on Highway 71 on the south side of Spencer. During the traffic stop, the Olive Branch Police Department confirmed the vehicle was stolen. Mullen was promptly taken into custody and booked into the Clay County jail.
