Stolen Pickup Found Crashed On Shore Of West Lake Okoboji

(West Okoboji)—A pickup reported stolen over the weekend from a lakes area business, was found crashed Sunday morning on the shoreline of West Lake Okoboji in West Okoboji.

Arnolds Park police say the pickup, owned by Oak Hill Marina, was taken from the business around 3:45 a.m. Sunday. Police say the driver, who’s identity isn’t known, lost control of the vehicle in the area of West Okoboji and 1st Street, where it traveled through an empty lot and some landscaping before coming to a stop on the shoreline of West Lake Okoboji. Police say the driver, who remains at large, got out and fled.

Damage to the truck and landscaping was estimated at $10,000.

Police say the incident is still under investigation.

The Arnolds Park Police Department was assisted by the Okoboji Police Department, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and  Clary’s Lake Service.
