(Undated)– A reminder that we are in the midst of Severe Weather Awareness Week in the state of Iowa. Most communities throughout the state will sound tornado sirens around 10:00 this (Wed.) morning as part of a statewide tornado drill. That will NOT be the case, though, in Dickinson county. Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret says the recent moisture has frozen on the sirens and there’s concern that sounding them could cause mechanical damage.
Ehret, however, still encourages everyone to take a few minutes during today’s (Wed.) drill to review and practice their plans, including where to go and what to do in the event a tornado warning is issued for your location at any time during the upcoming season.
