State Looking To Revamp Victim Services Program

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– Attorney General Tom Miller wants to hear from Iowans on a proposed plan to revamp victim services.

The Crime Victim Assistance Division is seeking public comment on a plan to divide the crime service areas into six regions. Within each, the state would fund regional shelter programs, domestic violence programs and sexual assault programs.

Miller says state and federal funding has dropped over the past three years. He says Iowa has to develop new ways to deliver better and more cost-effective services. If not, he says cuts will have to be made.

13 meetings will be held around the state over the next few weeks, including one in our area–Storm Lake.
