State Auditor Issues Report On Dickinson County Finances

(Des Moines)—The State Auditor’s Office has released a report on Dickinson county’s finances for the fiscal year ended June 30th, 2012.

According to the report, the county had slightly more than $46.5 million in local tax revenue, including $552,000 in tax credits from the state. Slightly more than $38.8 million in tax revenue was distributed to townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the county.

Nearly $7.7 million of tax revenue was retained for county operations, an increase of less than one percent over the prior year. Other revenues included charges for service of $1.6 million; operating grants, contributions and restricted interest of $4.3 million; capital grants, contributions and restricted interest of nearly $263,000; tax increment financing of $755,000; local option sales tax receipts totaled slightly more than $1.2 million; hotel/motel tax receipts totaled nearly $53,600; unrestricted investment earnings stood at $202,500 and other general revenues totaled $134,000.

Expenses for county operations totaled $14.1 million…a 3.2% increase over the prior year. Expenses included $3.6 million for roads and transportation; nearly $2.1 million for county environment and education and $2.2 million for administration.
