Start Of Clay County Fair Powered By SMU Now Just Weeks Away

August 12, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– The Clay County Fair powered by SMU is now just weeks away. General Manager Jeremy Parsons says an important tool to help you plan your visit this year will be coming out next week…

“Actually next Thursday, on the 18th, we’ll be releasing the daily guides. And just as you talked about if you want to plan that minute-by-minute trip through the fair, you know, what free entertainment shows you want to see, what exhibits are open, that’s going to tell you exactly minute-by-minute what’s going on at the fair, so those details are being finalized but look for that next week.”

Parsons says while the cost of everything else may be going up, that isn’t the case for admission for this year’s fair…

“For families the fair is still one of the best bargains you’ll ever find. Adults 13 and over are $10 to get into the fair and if you’re 12 and under it’s free every day. So if you’re a mom and dad with, you know, five young kids, it’s going to cost you $20 to get into the fair. But we even offer you more savings than that because if you buy those advance adult admission tickets now through September 9th they’re only $8.00. So a substantial savings to get you in.”

And there’s added incentive to come to the fair later in the evening this year, with free admission for EVERYONE beginning at 7:30 pm…

“And so you know our buildings are still open into the evening, we’ve got some entertainment going on, of course there’s all the food and rides. So maybe a later evening trip for you and your family after 7:30 pm every night of the fair, it’s free for everybody to come.”

Parsons adds there will be plenty to see and do again this year at the Midway, with Goldstar Amusements returning…

“A great carnival company. 30 rides again they’ll be brining, and this year they’ve outfitted many of the rides with LED lighting, so the midway will look spectacular at night.”

The Clay County Fair powered by SMU runs September 10th through the 18th.
