(Arnolds Park)-A Star will be unveiled as part of a new walking tour at The Park. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details.
Arnolds Park Amusementt Park along with The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association and Okoboji Tourism have announced a new Rock and Roll Park Walking Tour. Okoboji Tourism Director Rebecca Peters explains. “People are always looking for a new, unique thing to do in The Park, and we’re like, it’s right here, and so all we have to do is add The Star out in Preservation Plaza where people can actually stand right where all the stars used to stand on the stage. The Park has been great. They’re going to open up that space in between The Roof Garden and The Majestic Pavilion so you can see some of The Roof Garden artifacts in there, and then, you can go into the Rock & Roll Museum and then you can go to the actual Star that will be on Preservation Plaza. So, we thought it would be kind of a cool thing just to help us remember all the history of rock and roll here.”
She adds that the star will be unveiled at a ceremony Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock. “We invite everybody to come join us right on Preservation Plaza as we’ll be unveiling that star that’ll be in place at Preservation Plaza, and then that will be kind of the first opportunity people can have to take that tour and kind of relive some of the great history of rock and roll in the area.”
A guide to the tour will be available in brochures and online.
