Stand Off In Cottonwood County Ends In Arrest Of Minneapolis Man

October 30, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Westbrook, Mn.)– A Minneapolis man wanted on warrants was taken into custody Tuesday in Westbrook.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were notified this past Sunday by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Violent Crime Reduction Unit of a person believed to be in that city who was wanted on warrants from Anoka county and the Department of Corrections.

Authorities say that at about 6:30 am Tuesday, with assistance from the High Risk Entry and Arrest Team, or HEAT, a perimeter was established around a residence in Westbrook and announcements were made for the occupants to come out of the home. Shortly before 9:30 am the residents exited the home and a 38-year-old man from Minneapolis was arrested and transported to the Cottonwood County Jail.

In addition to the warrants, the man, who’s name hasn’t been released, also faces charges from Cottonwood county for false imprisonment and felon in possession of a firearm.
