Spirit Lake Officials Request Permission To Use Courthouse Meeting Room

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)—The city of Spirit Lake is requesting use of the Community Room in the courthouse to hold its city council meetings during construction of the new city hall. City Administrator Mark Stevens made the request at today’s (Tues.) Dickinson county board of supervisors meeting…(click here for comment.)

“We’ll demolish the building we’re in today probably in September. So we’re looking at moving out slightly before that. Probably late August. And then we need to be gone until roughly mid to late fall of 2014. Until we get a contractor we won’t know exactly how long it’s going to take to construct the new building. That generally looks like about 14 months. City hall will be in a new location during construction. Virtually all places that we’ve been looking at don’t really have a place for to have council meetings. So we’ve been looking for alternate locations for council meetings separate from city hall.”

The supervisors were receptive to the city’s request, provided a few details can be worked out. They also want to make sure a divider designed to isolate the community room from the rest of the courthouse is functional.
