(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake is among 10 small Iowa communities selected for a site visit for the Blue Zone project. The announcement was made today (Wed.).
The others are Algona, Audubon, Decorah, Fairfield, Harlan, Osage, Red Oak, St. Ansgar and Woodbine.
The series of small community visits will allow the Wellmark team to learn more about the community’s leadership and commitment. Community leaders will have the opportunity to learn more about the resources available, including Blue Zones principles and how to leverage tools available to them.
The visits are anticipated to occur this coming summer.
Today’s (Wed.) announcement on the selection of the 10 smaller communities comes on the heels of February’s announcement in which Wellmark announced the 10 finalists for visits for communities with populations greater than 10,000.
