(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man is being held in the Dickinson county jail on charges stemming from a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.
The incident allegedly took place late Friday afternoon in the 2900 block of Highway 9. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says authorities were called to that location around 4:00 pm. Contact was eventually made over the phone with the suspect, identified as 54-year-old Adalberto Cantu of Spirit Lake, who was taken into custody after a 30 minute stand-off with authorities.
Cantu was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, going armed with intent, and domestic abuse assault impeding airflow. All of the charges are class “D” felonies.
The Spirit Lake and Okoboji Police Departments assisted on the scene, along with the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.
