(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man charged with trying to kill a man has been ruled mentally competent to stand trial. Caleb Crosby was charged with attempted murder following a shooting May 5th of this year in Montgomery that left the victim seriously injured. Crosby was arrested later that evening in Osceola county. Authorities say he allegedly tried to elude capture by stealing a couple of vehicles. Crosby is scheduled to go on trial October 15th in Dickinson County District Court. He remains in the Dickinson county jail on a $2,005,000 bond.
Crosby was also charged May 31st after allegedly trying to escape from the Dickinson county jail.
Crosby was also arrested on multiple charges back in March of this year after allegedly trying to interfere at the scene of a fire in Montgomery.
