(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man is in the Dickinson county jail after being arrested over the weekend on multiple drug charges. 41-year-old Lamar Cox was arrested Saturday at a residence in Spirit Lake on four counts of a controlled substance violation. A criminal complaint filed by Spirit Lake police accuses Cox of possessing about 94.9 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver along with numerous pills described as being a schedule one, two or three controlled substance. The complaints allege Cox was also in possession of a little more than 836 grams of marijuana for distribution, along with about 4.7 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. He was also charged with unlawful possession of a prescription drug and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
Cox was additionally charged with domestic abuse…assault of a pregnant person by allegedly punching and pushing a woman to the ground. He was also charged with child endangerment. The documents state that a two-year-old child who was temporarily staying in the home as a guest witnessed the incident.
Cox was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of emergency communications for allegedly taking the victim’s phone preventing her from calling 911.
Cox was also arrested on an additional count of a controlled substance violation in an incident dating back to August 2nd of this year at an Arnolds Park bar. A criminal complaint regarding that incident states that as part of an ongoing investigation, Cox provided law enforcement with about 3.85 grams of what tested positive as cocaine within a thousand feet of a public park.
Cox is being held in the Dickinson county jail on a $125,000 bond.
