(Spirit Lake)– It will be one year this coming October when Spirit Lake got involved in the Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield Blue Zones initiative for communities with less than 10,000. It was announced in April that Spirit Lake had been seleced as one of 10 finalist communities. Now, officials are gearing up for the next step in the process…a site visit. It will be held this Thursday (Aug. 2nd) at 10:00 a.m. at Camp Foster YMCA. Sonja Hamm, YMCA of the Okoboji’s Development Director, says they’re looking forward to showcasing the area and expressig why they feel the Iowa Great Lakes should be selected…(click here for comment from Hamm.)
