Spirit Lake Fire Dept. Takes Delivery Of New Rescue Truck

May 18, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– After nearly three and-a-half years in the works, the Spirit Lake Fire Department Wednesday took delivery of its brand new rescue truck. Fire Chief Pat Daly says while the new truck has state-of-the-art equipment, it also fills another even more important need…

Daly says the new truck is equipped for all types of rescue operations including those involving water, ice, high angle, grain bin, confined space, trench, haz-mat, and more. Daly says some of that equipment is currently on a truck originally designed as a pumper unit…

Daly says another important tool on the new truck is a sophisticated LED light system that can be extended 15 to 20 feet above the truck by remote control.

The new truck comes with a price tag of a little more than $500,000. Daly says they’ve been setting aside funds for the new truck over a number of years. He says they like to replace trucks on a rotating basis every three to four years. The last new truck purchased prior to this one was a pumper truck four years ago.
