(Spirit Lake)– Previously we told you about fundraisers coming up over the Labor Day Weekend for the Arnolds Park-Okoboji and Milford Fire Departments. The Spirit Lake Fire Department has an event of its own. Chief Pat Daly says they’ll hold their annual dance…
“It’s going to happen on Friday, August 29th. We’ll be there from 7:00 until 10:00 at the Okoboji Barn Bar and Grill. We changed venues this year to do something a little different. So far it looks pretty promising. We’ll have Damon Dotson there again, he’ll be playing from 7:00 until 10:00.”
Admission will be by a freewill donation with proceeds going to update equipment…
“There’s always something coming out bigger and better and we like to stay on top of it. When it comes time to rescue somebody we want to make sure we have the best equipment that we can, so we’re continuously updating all of our tools.”
Daly adds it’s another way to meet the firefighters in a fun, casual environment…
“Between that and the pancake feed that’s what we do, you know, so you can see who’s out there protecting your property and lives and stuff and it’s just kind of a fun thing to do.”
Daly says Friday evening’s event will be held outdoors but will be moved inside in the event of inclement weather.
Those unable to attend but who would like to make a donation can mail it to the Spirit Lake Fire Department, 2001 Peoria Avenue, Spirit Lake, Iowa…51360.
