Spirit Lake Fire Dept. Gearing Up For Annual Dance This Weekend

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Fire Department is holding a major fundraiser this weekend. Chief Pat Daly says they’ll be holding their annual dance Saturday (Aug. 24th) at the Dickinson County Expo Building in Spirit Lake from 7:00 until 10:00 pm…

“We’ve got Damon Dotson coming in, we’ve got a new band this year. We’d just love to see a bunch of people out there having a good time. Firefighters are all going to be there, you can meet the guys that protect your businesses and homes. Just come out and have a good time.”

Tickets will be available at the door…

“It will be a freewill offering to come in if you haven’t already sent a check in the mail, a lot of people have, we appreciate that.”

Daly says proceeds will go toward updating equipment…

“OSHA comes in and says oh, this nozzle won’t work any more so we’ve got to get new ones and, you know, those run $1,800 or better. And we ended up putting a new motor in our boat up on Big Spirit so that one really hurt, so yeah, we just update tools with it.”

Daly says they hold two fundraisers each year: the pancake feed in the spring and the dance in the fall.
