Spirit Lake Crash Injures Alpha, Mn. Man

(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision this (Tuesday) morning at the intersection of Highways 9 and 71 and Peoria Avenue in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.

Spirit Lake police say 45-year-old Michael Mingus of Spencer was pulling onto the highway from the Hy-Vee parking lot when he collided with a westbound vehicle driven by 32-year-old William Swan of Alpha, Minnesota.

Swan was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare; Mingus complained of injury but wasn’t taken to the hospital.

Three thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2002 Chevrolet truck driven by Mingus; four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1999 Hyundai driven by Swan.

Mingus was cited for failure to yield.

The collision took place around 6:44 a.m.

Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Spirit Lake First Responder and the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics.
