(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake business was damaged by fire late this (Monday) morning.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news firefighters were called to Cobweb Antiques at 128 North Hill Avenue around 11:11 this (Monday) morning.
Upon arriving, Kollasch says firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the building. Upon entering the structure, Kollasch says firefighters found a fire burning in the back of the building. He says they quickly brought it under control, but there was a considerable amount of smoke and water damage throughout the building…especially in the rear portion. Kollasch isn’t sure on a dollar estimate of the damage.
Upon investigating, Kollasch says firefighters determined the blaze was the result of an electrical problem in an alarm panel near a furnace.
Firefighters were on the scene about two hours. The Lake Park Fire Department assisted on the scene with additional manpower.
No injuries were reported–Kollasch says no one was in the building at the time. He says the fire was reported by a passerby who noticed smoke coming from the building and called 911.
