(Spirit Lake)– The city of Spirit Lake is getting $2,700 to plant some trees.
The money is coming through Trees Forever and its Branching Out Program, of which Alliant Energy is a partner.
More than $112,000 was distributed to 38 Iowa communities in the latest round of grants for various tree planting projects.
The Branching Out Program is offered exclusively to Iowa communities where Alliant Energy provides service.
Since its start in 1990, volunteers have planted more than 1.1 million trees and seedlings through the program in Iowa.
