Spencer Woman Wins $10,000 In Powerball Drawing

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer woman is $10,000 richer as a result of the May 12th Powerball drawing.

In an interview with Iowa Lottery officials, 49-year-old Mary Moffitt of Spencer said she had stopped at a grocery store when she decided to check a ticket she had for that drawing…(click here for comment from Moffitt.).

Moffitt, a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, purchased her winning ticket at a Casey’s Convenience store in Estherville. She claimed her prize May 15th at the Iowa Lottery’s regional office in Storm Lake, just one day before she and her husband celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

Moffitt says they plan to use the winnings to pay bills and take a vacation.

Moffitt won the $10,000 prize by matching four of the first five numbers and the Powerball.
