Spencer Woman Faces Felony Forgery Charges

November 22, 2014

(Storm Lake)– A Spencer woman faces felony forgery charges in connection with checks written to several Storm Lake businesses.

Authorities say it stems from March 18th when police took a report from a victim who alleged someone was writing checks on her account. After an investigation, police allege between March 9th and 17th, 23-year-old Crystal Morris of Spencer…also known as Crystal Vidana…had forged 11 checks belonging to her aunt at a variety of businesses in Storm Lake including Hy-Vee, Wal-Mart and Payless Shoes.

Storm Lake police issued an arrest warrant charging Morris with 11 counts of forgery…a class “D” felony. On Saturday, Sioux Rapids police located and arrested Morris. She’s being held in the Buena Vista County jail on a 55-thousand dollar bond.
