Spencer Woman Accused Of Stealing Checks

November 22, 2014

(Fostoria)– A Spencer woman faces theft and forgery charges for allegedly stealing some checks and cashing them.

27-year-old Tabetha Wilson is accused of stealing two personal checks from a private citizen and cashing them at a Fostoria bank.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says its investigation was based on a complaint it received from the victim Thursday. Upon investigating, deputies learned Wilson had allegedly forged the victim’s name on the checks and cashed them…for a total of $10,000.

Wilson was arrested and charged with theft in the 2nd degree and forgery…both class “D” felonies. She was booked into the Clay county jail on a $5,000 bond. Wilson has since bonded out pending a future court appearance.
