Spencer Traffic Stop Results In Two Arrests

(Spencer)—A traffic stop Thursday in Spencer resulted in charges against two people.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says A deputy pulled over a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Frederick Scott of Storm Lake with previous knowledge that Scott had a revoked driver’s license. The deputy stopped the vehicle on Fairfield Street and observed a female in the driver’s seat.

The deputy made contact with Scott who denied driving the vehicle. 26-year-old Cintoya Chavous of Sioux City said she had been driving the whole time.

Scott and Chavous were both arrested: Scottt was charged with driving while remoked and failure to file SR 22 insurance.

Upon further investigation it was found Chavous had a suspsended license and was charged with driving under suspension and interference with official acts.

Scott was relased after posting a one thousand dollar cash or surety bond; Chavous was released after posting a 300-dollar cash or surety bond.
