(Spencer)– The Iowa Economic Development Authority this (Fri.) morning awarded a $224,000 Community Attraction and Tourism, or CAT Grant, for the city of Spencer’s splash pad project. The project has a total cost of a little more than $1.2 million. More than $500,000 was raised through donations with the balance being covered through hotel-motel tax revenue and additional grants.
The attraction will include an 1,800 square foot kid’s zone with interactive water features along with a separate 1,000 square foot toddler area and shaded seating.
A bid letting is scheduled for April 6th. Construction will get underway this spring or summer with completion set for 2027.
