(Spencer)– A project to separate storm and sanitary sewer systems in Spencer has been awarded some federal funding.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $146,000 for ongoing planning and design for the project.
In 2008 the city of Spencer signed a consent order with the EPA to reduce or eliminate its combined sewer overflows into the Little Sioux River. The city has retained an engineer to perform planning and design fo the project that will meet requirements outlined in the EPA consent order.
