Spencer School Board Votes 4-1 To Halt Religious Liberty Policy

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A proposed religious liberty policy that had been the topic of debate and controversy with the Spencer school board is now off the table.

Meeting earlier this week, the board voted four-to-one to no longer pursue the proposal. The vote came as the board was considering a second draft of the proposal.

A couple of board members said the majority of public comment they were getting was in opposition to the proposed policy. But others indicated they had received comments in favor of the policy. School Board President Todd Korbitz says he’s also had comments favoring the proposed policy, but he questioned whether such a policy is necessary.
