(Spencer)– Spencer’s Safe Routes To School Program is getting some financial assistance from the state to improve sidewalks.
The Iowa Transportation Commission Tuesday awarded $112,880 for Spencer’s sidewalk improvement program.
It was one of 19 such projects throughout the state awarded more than $1.75 million in funding.
The Safe Routes To Schools program was created in 2005 with Federal Transportation funds to increase the number of children safely walking and biking to school.
