Spencer Police Issue Warrant For Man Wanted In Assault

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)—Spencer police have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect wanted in an assault Monday that seriously injured a Spencer man.

Police Chief Mark Lawson says officers and medical personnel were called around 2:15 a.m. Monday to the 500 block of East 3rd Street after getting a report of a man there that was having problems breathing. Upon arriving, officers found a man in the back yard of that residence who had been badly beaten. The victim, 59-year-old Edward Kitto, was taken to Spencer Hospital and was then transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Spencer police, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Clay County Attorney’s Office investigated the incident and have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in the case. 21-year-old Christopher Fitzpatrick of Spencer is wanted on a charge of willful injury…a class “C” felony.

Anyone with information on Fitzpatrick’s whereabouts is being asked to contact the Spencer Police Department. Crimestopper money is available for any information that leads to Fitzpatrick’s arrest.
