(Spencer)– Progress continues on developing an app that city officials in Spencer say will help warn residents of impending dangers, including floods. City Manager Kevin Robinson gave an update at last week’s city council meeting…
“The funding for that river warning system in both the Ocheyedan and the Little Sioux, hopefully will receive federal and state funding and the really exciting part about that is the gauges give off data so the flood center’s willing to share that data, and the programmers that are working on our city app are able to interface with that and then we can tie in a warning system into our application.”
Robinson says it will be the first of its kind in Iowa…
“What really excites them is that nowhere in the state of Iowa has this been done before where a city is actually integrating directly into the Flood Center information. It should be an exciting project.”
Robinson says they’re hoping the app will be completed and ready to roll out by this spring.
