(Spencer)– Spencer Mayor Steve Bomgaars has issued a curfew that goes into effect at 10:30 pm this (Sat.) evening, lasting until 6:00 am Sunday.
City officials say rescue operations by emergency personnel have been stopped to allow them to focus on urgent needs of residents such as medical emergencies. They add law enforcement and fire-rescue personnel will be standing by through the night. KUOO news has learned some of those personnel will be coming from surrounding areas to assist.
Shelters are open and staffed with food and water available to those staying at the shelters only. City officials say a supply distribution center will be set up soon. They add anyone going to the shelters need to take their medications with them in their bottles. Those without medication access should alert the shelter staff at check-in for assessment of immediate needs.
City officials say another update will be provided Sunday morning, following a meeting with emergency management personnel.
