(Sioux City)– A Spencer man has been sentenced to more than 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of possession of firearms by a drug user and domestic abuse and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. 41-year-old Dana Igou was sentenced on the charges Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.
Federal prosecutors say Igou and others conspired to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine while possessing several firearms. In December of 2023, Igou was pulled over and found to be in possession of a 9 millimeter handgun and a small amount of methamphetamine. Igou was arrested again on March 14th, 2024, when he was again found to be in possession of firearms, ammunition, brass knuckles and about 9 ounces of meth.
The case was investigated by the Estherville, Spirit Lake and Spencer Police Departments, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
