(Hornick)– Six people, including five members of the Westwood High School wrestling team, remain hospitalized as authorities continue to investigate a crash that left one man dead.
It happened Saturday morning as a school district sport utility vehicle carrying the wrestling team to a wrestling clinic in Mapleton collided nearly head-on with a van near Hornick in Woodbury county.
The driver of the van, 53-year-old Bradley Haburn of Spencer, was killed in the crash.
The driver of the SUV and its passengers were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
A hospital spokeswoman says 16-year-old Trent Baker of Sloan and 15-year-old Blake Jorgensen of Sloan remain in critical condition.
Two other wrestlers, 18-year-old Jordan Mitchell of Sloan and 16-year-old Sage Washburn of Hornick are in fair condition. The driver of the SUV, 26-year-old Daniel Thompson of Mapleton, also is in fair condition.
16-year-old Adam Greeno of Salix is in guarded condition.
No additional information on the investigation was released Sunday.
