Spencer Jaycees Gearing Up For Their Haunted House Again This Year

October 19, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– It’s time to get your scare on. The Spencer Jaycees will once again this year be holding their haunted house. This year’s event has been dubbed “Circus of Horror: Nightmare at the Fair”.

Member Craig Neiderheiser says the haunted house will be open this Friday and Saturday evenings, October 21st and 22nd, and again October 28th and 29th. Hours each evening will be from 7:00 until 11:00 pm at the Tower Gate Pavilion at the Clay County Fairgrounds. He says the cost will be $15.00 per person, or $10 per person if you bring two non-perishable food items which will be donated to the food pantry at Upper Des Moines Opportunity. Neiderheiser says they’ve had a huge response to that in past years…

“Normally it takes at least a pickup if not two pickup loads of food to get there. So it’s very important that we have that food to be able to donate back to them and I know they’re in dire need right now of giving back.”

Proceeds from the admission fees will go back into the community…

“It’s a huge event just to be able to have in the community to be able to something to do in October on a cold night, get inside and stay warm, but most importantly go back to other projects that we give back throughout the year, other nonprofits that we donate to, so it all stays here in the community and gets filtered through.”
