(Spencer)– The Spencer Jaycees are back once again this year with their “Nightmare at the Fair”. The haunted house is located in the Tower Gate Pavilion building at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer. The attraction will be open this Friday and Saturday from 7:00 to 11:00 pm. The cost is $10 if you bring two non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Upper Des Moines Opportunity Food Pantry. Otherwise it’s $15.
Jaycee member Jason Jacobs gives a little preview as to what you’ll see…
“So we’ve got one room that’s kind of based around a pretty popular movie. That room turned out really well. I was surprised when they told me what they were going to do but I really liked it. There are some old favorites that are back in there again this year. It’s just a handful of things that we’re going to do every single year just to keep the fun going. We’ve got a really unique outdoor room this year that we’ve put together, and then the maze itself. Just the maze itself is really, really fun this year. There’s a lot of places where people can be popping out at you. You’ll enjoy it. It’s a little bit different than it has been in previous years. We’re not doing like the vortex or the big bridge room or anything like that this year, but there’s some really unique things that we’ve put together and I was really impressed with the group’s efforts this year because we’re all volunteers, but we do have a construction company that helps us put it together and so. Thank you to Hamrick’s, they did a great job, also to Midwesterm Mechanical who helps us move all the plywood, the fair is very instrumental in making it possible, so a lot of great folks and it’s just a fun time. If you’ve got kids that you think can handle going through the haunted house, it’s a great way to spend a Friday or Saturday evening.”
