Spencer Hospital Trustees Approve Eye Clinic Project

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The board of trustees of Spencer Hospital have given the go-ahead to proceed with plans to renovate a portion of a medical office building to accommodate an eye clinic.

During a special meeting today (Friday), trustees approved a construction project of up to $290,000 to renovate space on the first floor of the medical office portion of Spencer Hospital, next to the gift shop.

The low bid on the project was awarded to Henkel Construction of Mason City. Five firms submitted bids.

The remodeled space will house the Wolfe Eye Clinic ophthalmology practice, which will pay about 70 percent of the construction cost.
Tom Peterson, Spencer Hospital Administrative Director of Medical Services, says the funding responsibility was determined based on work that is the hospital’s responsibility as the building owner and what’s needed to meet the specific needs and desires of the practice.

A mid-spring opening of the clinic is planned.

The new clinic will be Wolfe’s eighth regional site in Iowa.
