(Spencer)– Spencer Hospital trustees voted Thursday to proceed with an $8.2 million facility and equipment upgrade.
Hospital officials say 5.34 million will be used to renovate an existing hospial wing into a modern intensive care unit and step-down telemetry unit. It also includes the purchase of a state-of-the-art CT simulator for Abben Cancer Center at a cost of just under $1 million. Officials say the third project, estimated at $1.85 million, focuses on a series of facility infrastructure improvements, including updates to the hospital’s cooling and electrical systems.
Bill Bumgarer, Spencer Hospital President, says they plan to fund the projects through cash reserves. He says a bidletting will be held in October with construction getting underway in December. Completion is slated for the fall of 2013.
