Spencer Hospital Announces Revised Masking Guidelines

October 14, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Spencer Hospital has revised its masking guidelines based on new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Officials say it’s based on community transmission levels for covid, which the CDC says is currently low for Clay county. That means most patients and visitors at Spencer Hospital may choose to wear a mask or not based on personal preference. However, officials say masking is still required of anyone with cold or flu symptoms, has tested positive for covid within the past 10 days or had a known exposure to covid within the past 10 days.

Hospital officials say masking will again be required of everyone if community transmission rates once again become high, or the hospital has a high census of covid patients.

Officials with Spencer Hospital add visitor guidelines have returned to pre-covid breakout levels, however they say limitations will remain in place for certain areas of the hospital.
