(Spencer)– Owners of all-terrain-vehicles in Spencer who use the machines for business, such as snow removal, may soon be able to operate them on city streets so they can get from job to job without having to trailer them, as is currently the case.
The city council Monday approved the first reading of a proposed ordinance that would allow that.
An ATV would need to meet certain conditions to comply. For example, it would have to have a blade or snowblower attached to it, and it would have to be properly registered and insured.
City officials say they’ve received requests for such an ordinance as a result of the heavy snowfall so far this winter.
