Spencer City Council, Clay County Supervisors Hold Joint Meeting

December 05, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– The Spencer City Council and Clay County Board of Supervisors held a joint meeting prior to Monday evening’s regular city council meeting. Mayor Steve Bomgaars described the session as being productive. He says they covered a number of topics…

“We discussed a joint public works facility between the two of us. We don’t know how that would look but we did talk about that. We talked about the West 18th Street bridge; we talked about the Fridley Theatre agreement that the county and the city is jointly working on. We talked about two things that are pretty similar, participation in city projects and economic development, they kind of dovetail together, had a good discussion about that. And lastly we talked about emergency services and that was a very, very productive conversation about a topic that is not just a Clay county-Spencer issue, it’s a regional issue, it’s a national issue that we’re facing.”

Bomgaars says they’re hoping the two governmental bodies will continue to have joint meetings in the future.
