Special Traffic Enforcement Program To Take Place Over 4th Of July Holiday

November 22, 2014

(Undated)– Expect to see additional law enforcement officers on the roads over the 4th of July holiday period. It’s part of a Special Traffic Enforcement Program dubbed “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”. It will begin this coming Monday and continue through Sunday, July 8th.

A similar campaign a year ago resulted in Iowa officers making contact with 455 drunk drivers and more than 12,700 traffic violations were reported.

Six fatalities occurred on Iowa roads over the 4th of July holiday period a year ago.

Law enforcement agencies urge motorists to buckle up, slow down, and if you do decide to drink, to designate a sober driver.

Law enforcement agencies throughout the region will be participating in the crackdown.
