(Okoboji)– School’s Out, Nature’s In. That is the theme of the day camp that will be held at the Dickinson County Nature Center on January 19th. The camp is open to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade so they will be broken up into two age groups. Amy Heibult, Dickinson County Nature Center Community Relations Coordinator talks about what to expect…
“The younger group will get to do some really fun things like snow painting, creating their own DIY bird feeder, making snowflakes and exploring tree bark patterns and a few other fun things. And then also getting outside for a winter hike and then finding some natural items to make some nature collages with. Then our older kiddos will also be getting out to hike, and we have some fun marshmallow games planned out, and then also some animal meet and greets, as well as making a little bit of science to make a snowstorm in a jar. So some really fun things to keep the kiddos active and off the screens for the day.”
The $15 per student cost includes two snacks. Campers are required to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle. Heibult says families should register as soon as they can…
“We do have limited spaces available so families don’t want to wait around. Um, definitely make sure to get out on our website and register. And the deadline for that is January fifteenth at five pm.”
