(Spirit Lake)– An art exhibit honoring the journeys people face when confronted by a cancer diagnosis is coming to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
The free public exhibit, titled “Lilly Oncology on Canvas”, will be on display at Lakes Regional Healthcare this coming Friday, May 6th, through Tuesday, May 10th.
25 select pieces from the collection will be on display in the hospital’s Oncology Department, Cafeteria and visitor’s entrance.
In conjunction with the display, LRH’s Oncology Department will host a coffee and time of reflection for anyone in the community touched by cancer this coming Monday, May 9th, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the hospital’s cafeteria.
Launched in 2004, the “Lilly Oncology on Canvas” exhibit is now showcasing artwork from its 2010 competition. The biennial competition invites people from the U.S. and Puerto Rico diagnosed with any type of cancer-as well as their families, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers-to express through art and narrative the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journeys meaning. Themes range from hope to fear, the loss of individualism, support of family and friends, memory of the lost and the perseverance of those who survive.
