(Spencer)– Some vital services are starting to come back online in Spencer as that community continues to recover.
A press release from the Mayor’s Office says residents can once again use toilets and showers, adding that all other water usage will be functional by midnight.
According to the release, the shelters have now been condensed to one. It’s located at the Events Center at 800 W. 18th Street in Spencer.
It also states that the Spencer Fire Department is in the process of surveying the community for unsafe structures. Any that are deemed unsafe to be entered will be marked as such.
The call center remains operational at 712-264-8407. That number is available 7:00 am until 7:00 pm.
Health officials recommend everyone makes sure their tetanus vaccinations are up to date. They recommend getting one if it’s been five years since your last vaccination.
City officials say the Public Works Department continues to work diligently to pickup flood damaged items.
Residents, especially those still without power, are being reminded about the danger of carbon monoxide. Officials say it’s very important to only run generators and other fuel powered devices in a well ventilated area.
