(Okoboji)– Repairs to some shorelines and banks in the city of Okoboji that were heavily damaged in June’s storm are getting underway. City Administrator Michael Meyers says that as of late Tuesday, his office had received five emergency landscaping permit applications. Meyers told the city council most of those are in the Echo Bay area.
The council recently revised an ordinance relaxing some administrative procedures in specially designated areas to help property owners make the necessary repairs before winter sets in. Other requirements, such as engineering designs, remain in place.
Numerous bank collapses, some of them severe, were reported throughout the Iowa Great Lakes following the June 21st event.
