Some Counties Opt To Discontinue Burn Bans

November 22, 2014

(Undated)– Burn bans remain in effect until further notice for several northwest Iowa counties, including Dickinson. Some, however, have now lifted them. For instance, the ban in Cherokee county was lifted last month; Sioux county lifted its ban effective at 9:00 a.m. this (Wed. Nov. 16th); and Lyon county discontinued its ban November 9th.

Officials in the counties that lifted the bans say the threat for field fires has eased now that most of the fall field work is complete. They warn that the fire danger is still extremely high, however, due to the ongoing dry conditions.

Burn bans remain in effect until further notice for Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, O’Brien and Osceola counties.
