(Undated)– There will be some crowded ballots for city elections in Dickinson county November 4th. Arnolds Park is among them. Incumbents Matt Richter and Mitch Watters are running for re-election for their respective seats on the city council. They face challenges from Jeremy Lueck, Brian Wrightsman and Jamie Smith. Dr. Randy Paas is unopposed to fill a vacancy. Incumbent Mayor Jim Hussong is also unopposed.
In Lake Park, seven people are running for three seats on the city council. They include Joseph Sohn, an incumbent, along with Joshua McClain, Jason Jacobson, Nathan Judd, Jaret Byers, Jeffrey Nechkash, and Jack Bradshaw. Incumbent Matt Carstensen is unopposed as Mayor.
In Milford, Incumbent Mayor Steve Anderson isn’t seeking re-election, and no one filed. Two people are running for three city council seats, including Chris Hinshaw, an incumbent, and McIntyre Arndt.
Four people are running for three seats up for election on the Okoboji City Council, including Julie Andres and Dan Sanders, incumbents, along with Kae Hoppe and Thomas Bjornstad. Incumbent Mary Vanderwoude is unopposed for Mayor.
In Orleans, three city council seats are up for election. Incumbents Ben Radcliffe and Stan Gable have filed along with Gary Kilpatrick and Denda Evans. Incumbent Bill Maas is unopposed for Mayor.
Incumbent Kevin Bice is unopposed for Mayor in Spirit Lake, with three people running for two seats on the city council. They include incumbents John Chappas and Angela Kofoot, along with Mike Hemiller.
In Superior, Brady Kipfer is running for Mayor. Three seats are up for election on the city council. Breann Allen and Mark Campbell were the only ones to file. Trinity Woodward is running to fill a vacancy.
Three people are running for two seats up for election on the Terril City Council, including Jeri Nissen, Austin Fairchild and Jerry Kirchner. Jessie Hafner filed to fill a vacancy. Incumbent Julie Thiesen is unopposed for Mayor.
In Wahpeton, incumbent Phil Johnson is unopposed for Mayor with Tom Rierson, Harold Prior, Merlyn Kruger and Lois Benson running for three seats on the city council.
Incumbent Craig Miner is unopposed for Mayor in West Okoboji. Mike Paxton, Darlene Powers and Steven Wedeking are running for two seats up for election on the city council.
School elections will also be held November 4th. Incumbents Chad Hibma and Kayla Updike are unopposed for their seats on the Harris-Lake Park School Board; Jill Kremmin and Amanda Plathe are unopposed for the two seats up for election on the Okoboji School Board; and incumbents Mieka Stecker and Sonja Hamm are unopposed for their seats on the Spirit Lake School Board.
There are no contested races for seats up for election on the Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College. Curt Peterson is unopposed for District 3; Pat Kibbie of Emmetsburg was the only person to file for the district 6 seat; and Bob Jennings of Algona is unopposed for district 7. Kari Batman is running unopposed to fill a vacancy for the district 5 seat.
The deadline for candidates to file for the November 4th election was Thursday.
