(Spencer)– A social media influencer is coming to Spencer just in time for the Clay County Fair. Olivia Baxter of Clay County Tourism told the Spencer City Council Tuesday evening it’s being made possible through an Iowa Tourism Grant they were awarded in late 2024…
“That influencer, she is coming with her husband and two children this weekend. They’ll be staying out at Lost Island in a cabin and are going to go to the fair, are going to go to some parks all around the county. She has a whole itinerary drafted up. And then after her visit she will create, they’re called adventures, they’re essentially three kind of itineraries of things that they would recommend with photos, videos, that we will have access to all of that contact but she will also post it to all her social media as well.”
Baxter says some of the grant funds also went toward hiring a professional photographer for high quality photos for promotional materials while another portion is going into the design of a new website for Clay County Tourism.
