(Spirit Lake)– Eight band students were selected to participate in the Strong Foundations Middle School Honor Band Festival sponsored by Sioux City East Middle School Band.
Student recommendations were submitted in October and from those nominations 200 students were chosen for participation in 2 separate bands. The selected students performed a concert at Sioux City North High School, Monday, January 16th at 6:00 p.m. following an afternoon of rehearsal.
Selected from Spirit Lake Middle School are sixth graders Mason Poolman-Tuba; Sawyer Nikkel-Euphonium; Levi Samuelson-Tenor Saxophone; Abigail Mensing-Alto Saxophone; Finley Van Genderen-Flute; Clara Petty and Emily Gewecke-Trumpet; and Madeline Ackerman-Bb Clarinet. Spirit Lake Middle School band director is Sally Jo Ites.
